Q: What do you do at KZE?
A: As best I can figure, not much. I’m officially an owner/operator with my wife, and the general manager… or mangler, depending on whom you ask.
Q: What do you do when you’re not working at KZE?
A: My hobbies are writing songs, playing music, and reading. I’m also an avid, though not very skilled, racquetball player.
Q: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Chocolate. I’ll also eat Neapolitan, as long as all three sections are chocolate.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats in Florida with my wife. But I am possibly working towards getting another small dog to keep me out of trouble up here in New York. (*editor’s note – he did and she’s the best dog in the world!)
Q: What’s the most useless talent you have?
A: The ability to make very loud cracking noises with my knuckles before I start to play piano… a talent that is both irritating and useless.
Q: When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
A: Eat chocolate.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received? OR Can you share one quote or saying you love, that keeps you going in life?
A: Don’t treat life as a zero sum game. A rising tide really can raise all ships, if we believe it can.
Q: If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be and why?
A: Art Wolfe, the great wildlife and nature photographer. That’s something I toyed with as a possible second career earlier in my life. I just turned out to not be very visually talented.
Q: What’s the closest thing to real magic?
A: When a radio salesperson, which is what I have been for the last 40 years, makes “one more call” after making a big sale, the results are tantamount to magic. I guess success miraculously breeds success.
Q: Have you ever collected stickers that are on fruits?
A: Huh? There are stickers on fruits?
Q: A penguin in a sombrero walks through the doorway and starts talking. What does it say?
A: “My name, José Jiménez!”
