At KZE, we only promote local, independent businesses. These business owners are our friends, and neighbors. When we support them, we support our local communities.
Founded in 1983, the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies is one of the world’s leading independent environmental research organizations. Areas of expertise include disease ecology, forest and freshwater health, climate change, urban ecology, and invasive species.
Studies by our scientists have been instrumental in informing the Clean Air Act, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and environmental management practices throughout the Northeast, including the Hudson River, New York’s Catskill and Adirondack forests, and the watershed of Baltimore, Maryland.
Hallmark projects include studies of the impact of acid rain on forests and freshwater ecosystems, unraveling the relationship between biodiversity loss and emerging infectious diseases, and tracking how climate change influences the spread of invasive species.
The Cary Institute’s Goals:
Advance understanding about the structure and function of ecological systems.
Provide the scientific knowledge needed to solve environmental problems.
Enhance the ecological literacy of students, decision makers, and the public.
Train the next generation of ecologists and resource managers.
CATSKILL NATIVE NURSERY has been inspiring gardeners since 1999 to create biodiverse and remarkably ornamental gardens using plants that are native to eastern North America. We specialize in nursery-propagated North American perennials, fruits, shrubs and trees. Native plants are a natural choice for woodland, meadow, and aquatic gardens. Most are equally at home in the flower borders around your house. Native plants are ornamental, easy to maintain and provide food and habitat for birds, butterflies, bees and other wildlife - and yourself. Many natives are becoming scarce in the wild - you can help to restore biodiversity by adding native plants to your landscape. Come and browse the unique beauty and garden worthiness of our native flora. Sorry, we are not a mail order nursery, so we do not ship plants.
County Players was born in 1958. During our lifetime, we have presented over 200 productions and have served thousands of theatre-goers who continue to reward our efforts with their loyal attendance. In 1977, we acquired the old Academy Theatre in the Village of Wappingers Falls, and through countless hours of volunteer efforts, we have turned a crumbling relic into a living theatre – The County Players Falls Theatre. We paid off our mortgage, continue to make improvements to our building, and still manage to keep our prices at an affordable level. Our promise for the future is to continue on the path of fiscal responsibility, theatrical improvement, and entertainment!

We are the Hudson Valley’s mercury experts, practicing safe mercury removal and hygiene. We love to see patients who are interested in maintaining or restoring their health through timely, customized, and minimally invasive dental care. The success we have achieved with our patients’ home care efforts has resulted in our patients referring their friends and family, which provides us with multiple new patients every day. We effectively manage our patients’ expectations so that their visits run on time and with minimal surprises. We go the extra steps to ensure that each patient has the best experience possible.
It is our duty to let others know what level of health care we practice since it is rewarding, exciting, and we provide the most comprehensive dental care in the area. The clinicians speak in the community at regular intervals to educate the public and to help publicize our work and our mission.
Our entire team supports this vision, which ultimately ensures the profitability and harmony of the practice.

Born and Raised on our Farm.... Plants that will be Forever at Home in your Gardens
Thomas Scott is owner and head grower, propagating and growing perennials since 1997. The goal is to offer the finest perennials available for gardens in the Tri-State area.
Our belief is that plants have a natural growth cycle in tune to their environment. And since the perennials are all grown at the nursery they are in balance with this cycle making them hardy, vigorous, and the best perennials available for your gardens.
No plant is sold until it has a well established crown with a good strong root system.
We offer custom growing of most any perennial you find difficult to find and want for your gardens. Call for more information on how we can help to expand your gardens.
FOUR WINDS FARM is a 24 acre diversified organic farm located in Gardiner, in southern Ulster County, of which 4 acres are used to grow vegetables, primarily heirloom and open pollinated varieties for better flavor and for seed saving. The remainder is used to raise beef, which supply us generously with natural fertilizer. Our farm-generated manure compost allows us to grow vegetables using a method that is very different from conventional farms. We do not plow or rototill our soil. Instead, we have permanent beds throughout the farm. We lay our compost on top of the beds and plant into the compost. This gives us a weed free environment to grow our vegetables.
There are many other benefits to not tilling the soil. A very important one is that we are able to store carbon in the soil, giving us a high soil organic matter environment. Our soil organic matter is between 8 and 10 percent. The higher percentage of organic matter allows the soil to hold more water, thereby cutting down on water runoff issues during heavy rains and holding more moisture during dry periods. Other benefits of not tilling is that we can grow more vegetables in a smaller space and maintain biodiversity both within the soil and on land. Perhaps the most important benefit is that our vegetables taste better. It makes sense. Plants growing in a rich, biodiverse soil are going to be healthy plants, and that health is what you taste. So come visit us at one of the Farmer’s Markets we attend and experience the difference.
